Evidencia científica y clínica avalan esta psicoterapia y la convierten en una alternativa que promueve la calma y sobretodo, el florecimiento. Desde un inicio, la psicología tradicional se ha focalizado en los problemas y como tal, lo que se consigue es intensificarlos, o bien llegar a un punto cero. Esto significa que la persona logra comprender lo que le produce el problema, pero sigue sin conocer lo que la hace florecer (Seligman, 2012). La Psicoterapia positiva, sin desconocer la problemática, se preocupa de descubrir aquello que permite a la persona vivir bien por muy difícil que parezca en un inicio.
